SnapFlow Unveiled in Microsoft PDC09 Keynote
PORTLAND, Ore. — November 18, 2009 — In front of the keynote audience at the Professional Developers Conference, Portland-based startup, SnapFlow, gave the first public demonstration of their new workflow service as a part of Microsoft corporate vice president Scott Guthrie’s keynote address. Using the new SnapFlow service, technically-minded people can convert simple and complex workflows into an online application in just hours through the service’s easy-to-use, drag and drop interface. This puts custom workflow software within reach of small to mid-size businesses by enabling them to quickly design and deliver a workflow process without relying on costly packaged software or a team of engineers. SnapFlow will soon be available in Beta 2 and can be accessed through registration at www.snapflow.com.
“Automating work processes is a time-tested way for companies to increase efficiency and cut costs, yet traditional methods of automation can require months of painstaking work,” said Samad Wahedi, CEO of SnapFlow. “SnapFlow empowers technically-minded people to convert collaborative workflows into an online application in a fraction of the time it takes with traditional methods.”
Using SnapFlow, users can build a workflow application from the ground up or browse the SnapFlow library to get started immediately. In the SnapFlow Studio, users design and configure their workflow applications by drawing the flowchart, building forms to capture and route information, and creating reports. SnapFlow then automatically builds the application in seconds.
“SnapFlow is the most sophisticated line of business application I’ve seen yet and demonstrates the rich internet applications that can be built with Silverlight ,” said Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president, Microsoft Corp. “SnapFlow’s innovative architecture enables people to design, build and automate the workflow - whether as simple as an expense report process or as complex as order management from a legacy system - without any programming.”
SnapFlow Portal enables users to instantly coordinate, share, and access the workflow once their web-based application is complete. End users can collaborate directly in email and applications can be deployed to Microsoft SharePoint, Google Sites, or any external web page. As a web-based service, data is secure, encrypted and stored on the Microsoft Azure platform.
